Mission

Benson Village Trust was created to rebuild the Benson Village Store and restore a vital center of community life.

Vision

We envision a welcoming, light-filled place at the center crossroads of our village where every resident can easily access groceries, locally-produced and prepared foods; get their gas, mail and bait; and share daily coffee and conversation with neighbors.

A Community-Centered Approach

The Benson Village Trust is a Vermont-registered community enterprise with 501(c)(3) nonprofit status founded in 2023 by Benson residents and operating as a locally-run nonprofit.

Under this approach, the Benson Village Trust owns and redevelops the property, helping ensure long-term sustainability and keeping the project rooted in community values. This model has been successfully used in other Vermont towns to preserve and revitalize historic general stores.
